We are what we eat! Just think! We create our bodies from what we eat. To create cell health, our bodies must efficiently assimilate and eliminate. Our ability to do these two functions efficiently and effectively becomes the building blocks of our bodies. Cells are the factories that keep this amazing body running. We replace EVERYTHING in our bodies. muscle, bones, blood, taste buds, brains cells, the coating of our nerves, and we depend on the health of our trillions and trillions of cells to get the job done. Those cells need fuel and that fuel is obtained from the food we ingest. We cant do build healthy bodies with just medicine or acupuncture.
Are you getting Nutrition from Food?
1 in 3 people get 45% of their calories from non foods that include:
 Soda, beer, wine, hard liquor
 Sweet rolls
 Cake, pastries
 Pudding, cookies, candy
 Processed foods
Diet is not something to go on. It is the food we ingest daily over our lifetime. If you think about your diet as creating a foundation of how you are going to create your health FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, rather than going on a diet to lose those 20 lbs. and then you will get your life back, it wont feel like a sentence you are serving. Not coincidentally, most people following this plan gain those 20 lbs. back and more.
Did you know in America each year
800 million frozen pizzas are consumed
 10 billion donuts
12 Here you will find a collection of fashion images, like alexander mcqueen shoes, clothing, skull scarf, clutch, wedding dresses, jewelry and more..3 billion burgers
Enough candy was made in 2004 to circulate the moon 4 times
Compared to the 1970s, Americans consume
50% more grains mostly as white breads, refined flour pastas and corn in the form of chips
75% more cheese and 22% less milk
30% more sugar to the tune of 152 lbs. more /person/year
The American diet can be a toxic food environment. We are surrounded by empty calories and the consequences of these foods are showing up in the health of our children. When a significant portion of the diet consists of empty calories, non-foods are consumed in an attempt to satisfy nutrition needs. Health risks are involved with non-food, which can include obesity, arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease to name just a few.
Food and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Food replenishes the energy expended. It makes Qi.
Food has an energetic temperature and direction
Food has a specific relation to the organs
The premise behind Traditional Chinese Medicine is balance. Regardless of the complaint a patient has when coming in for acupuncture, I always look at their diet to determine what they are feeding their body. Food contains energy. It has a direction, a temperature, and a function. These factors are not generally known and, therefore, not considered in our culture. A diet that is too repetitive, for example, can create allergies, or exacerbate pain syndromes. Below are a few ideas to start eating healthy:
K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple and Sane)
Eat organic foods whenever possible - they have at least 32% more nutrition. Studies have shown when people eat organic, they are including more protein and vegetables in their diets and, therefore, are not as hungry for expensive snacks - like potato chips.
What about fast foods? There are healthier choices than others! Choose carefully.
Avoid processed foods (read your labels). Take leftovers from dinner rather than a pre-cooked, packaged meal.
Avoid the microwave, which is sometimes hard to do when wanting a warm lunch at work.
Research how acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture can partner with healthy eating choices for increased balance and health.
